Hockey Gloves

Gloves are sized in inches: roughly 8 to 10 for youth, 10 to 12 for junior and 13 to 15 for senior players. Fingertips should come close to the ends of the glove without pressing against them, and the cuff should meet the elbow pad with no gap at the wrist.

Pro-style gloves are loose and give a free wrist; traditional gloves are snug and tapered. Neither is safer, so the choice is about feel. The palm wears out first, especially on used gloves: check it before anything else.

Fit check

  1. Fingertips reach close to the end of each finger stall.
  2. The cuff overlaps the elbow pad: no bare forearm when your arm is extended.
  3. You can close your hand around a stick without the palm bunching.
  4. The palm has no holes or thin spots.
