Golf Clubs & Bags

Golf clubs from the big makers (Ping, Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, Cobra) hold up for years, which is why the used market for them is so strong. A second-hand set is often the sensible first set, especially for a teenager who will outgrow it.

The old SC Sports took name-brand clubs on consignment: the owner set the asking price and received 70 per cent of it when the clubs sold. It also carried Wilson bags and boxed junior sets, like the Wilson Profile HL teen package with clubs and bag together.

Fit check

  1. Check grips first: worn grips are cheap to replace but change the whole feel.
  2. Look along the shaft for dents and at the face for heavy wear in the centre.
  3. Junior sets are sized by height. A teenager can often move to a short adult set.
